Senior Platform Engineer

You will be working for a US-based technology company leading the development of an Ecommerce platforms that supports independent retailers in North America as they adopt and embrace new components of their digital marketing solutions. We build and maintain thousands of retailer websites that must run reliably, efficiently, and effectively.
The ideal candidate has deep experience with Node.js, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and React, with a strong interest in platform reliability, automation, developer productivity, and system design. The Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services in Node.js, and contribute meaningfully to React-based frontend applications, including shared platform components and frontend architecture

• Build and evolve APIs using Hasura/GraphQL, enabling seamless integration between frontend and backend systems

• Architect, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure on GCP (GKE, Pub/Sub, BigQuery) with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance

• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, automation, and developer tooling to increase release quality and developer velocity

• Implement and champion best practices for observability, monitoring, logging, and security across the platform

• Lead platform-wide initiatives to improve system reliability, scalability, performance, and overall developer experience

• Partner closely with DevOps, QA, Product, and Engineering Leadership to align on technical decisions and deliver cohesive end-to-end solutions

• Mentor and guide engineers at all levels through code reviews, technical discussions, architectural guidance, and shared standards

• Break down complex technical problems into clear, actionable solutions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Stay current with industry trends and advocate for continuous improvement, innovation, and modern engineering practices

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong hands-on experience building backend services with Node.js and frontend applications with React

• Experience designing and operating systems on cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure acceptable)

• Strong understanding of Kubernetes, container-based architectures, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform)

• Proficiency with GraphQL or similar API frameworks

• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, CircleCI, or similar)

• Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, product managers, and leadership

• Strong English communication skills
